Do you like my blog... really?

I've regressed. I've started blogging and I'm back in high school. Only instead of wondering what shirt to wear today, I'm wondering what picture to post. One that people will like, that will make my blog popular. I look at friend's blogs and think, "Wow, her blog looks great today. I could never take pictures that good." I pep myself up and feel confident again: and then I see somebody's Cluster Map. It's like counting votes from Student Body elections. I'll never win. I'm just sure I will never have as many dots on my world map as Anna. Why does everyone like to visit her blog? What makes hers so much better than mine?

Like when you wear that new shirt to school and expect people to notice: I thrive on comments. Why didn't more people comment on that post? Didn't anybody like it? Didn't it match? I knew I should have picked a different color of banana clip for my hair. I grill Blake, "Did you see my post? Was it good? What was your favorite part?" He usually says he likes them, but maybe he's just saying that cuz he wants a date.
Are these blog-insecurities normal: should I seek advice from a high school counselor or just hope I'll grow up during summer vacation?

I'll tell you why I have so many hits on my site. Because someone in India searches for "lip plump" and google spits out my post about my puffy lips or someone in Australia does a search for "Benicio Del Torro on Oprah" and google pulls up my post about Oprah looking like Benicio. In all honesty, it's not because they like to visit my blog.

I ask Brandon the exact same thing..."What was your favorite part". In fact, I don't have to ask anymore because he knows I'll ask and he tells me before I can ask.

So yes, Jenna. We like your blog. We really do. And blog envy is completely normal.

Ha! You are so right on. I have many of the same feelings, but I have tried hard not to let everyone else being more popular than me stop me from keeping my own record. Like Sara said, we see each other quite a bit, but there are a lot of things we learn about each other from our silly blogs. Hey, can I come play DDR?

Jenna, I am posting a comment just so you'll feel liked. Just joking. We all go through it. We look at our profiles, wondering why only 300 people have looked at it over 2 years. I find that ignorance truly is bliss. I don't ask friends and family if they've read the blog, and just assume that they have. It's a comfortable feeling. Then when I see people and they say, "I never know what's going on with you!" I wave my hand and reply "It's all on the blog."

Oh, and the other thing is that I setup the blog to unsearchable and not listed on blogger, so random people can't just hit 'next blog' and happen upon us, so only people connected to us show up on our clustrmap. So yes, our map will probably not look like Anna's but our map will be pure and untainted by drive-by visits. :)

Jeez Blake, I'm grateful that you've kept the bagging on Anna to a minimum.

You forgot the popularity contest of seeing how many "friends" you can list on your sidebar...

And...maybe if you would comment more on other people's blogs....

Sister! I love your blog! I check it several (yes several) times a day. It truly is great-and you match all the time! I agree with Barb- comment more on others and you may get more comments back.

Wow, you really are sick. I've never thought such things!!! You really need to deal with those insecurities before they cause a problem! (What would a comment be without a little sarcasm!!!)
So here's an idea, try getting pregnant, and not telling anyone! Only the people who actually READ your blog get to find out! Sound cruel? Na, It was great fun for us. Eventually, I had to call Derrick's mom and dad and walk them through 'how to enter my blog site' so that they could read the announcement and not feel bad that they were never told. I'll be watching for you announcement! kelli

I would skip the high school counselor and just go straight psychotherapy. Much more effective.

Validation: So you feel discouraged that you don't get very many comments?
Perspective check: Is this discouragement based on reality? (No, because your posts get TONS of comments)
Homework assignment: Identify one thing you want to want to improve and practice it.

I'll check back in a week.

Thanks for your support everyone. Everyone that is except Kelli, who called me sick. And, Barb, don't even get me started on sidebar linklists....I've already made good strides mentally overcoming those.

Jenna Jenna Jenna - your blog is awesome! I love that you and Blake both create blogs. I'm lucky if Will remembers that we have a blog much less read it or write in it. ha ha BUT DON'T TELL HIM I SAID THAT. :o)

Just keep blogging...who cares what anyone else thinks. Will hated my toe story!!!! :o)

Love ya!

Now you can understand what I have to go through everyday with my wife - psychotherapy.

Same! I'll comment on yours, if you comment on mine. ;0) When's the DDR party? Actually, not sure I'm ready for that kind of embarrassment yet!
