I took the kids to the park yesterday to enjoy our 80 degree sunshine. While basking I noticed an industrious bird picking up a twig and carrying it to a nearby tree. I'm glad there is still some building going on in Maricopa. Too bad Blake's structural engineering company can't tap into that resource.
Our struggling little town was a force to be reckoned with three years ago. It was once projected we would hit 100,000 people at build-out. But then, saturated with too many homes, our economy froze and housing values plummeted. We even made Dateline, touted as a city in America where it's impossible to sell a home. (Read the Dateline article here.)

You know, we'd always love to have you guys back in Idaho or Utah....
I like the new layout!
I laughed at that cartoon on Sunday too. I'm just glad that we have great friends in Maricopa. Don't you dare move.
Yeah, it's a little stressful for the CA office too. I'm sure things will be okay, whatever happens. I do feel bad that Scott's under so much stress with work, and then he has to come home to a sick wife. He's a trooper...
We're very excited for a new baby. As soon as I can eat again, things will be great! :)
I'm guessing Guilder?
I completely understand the feeling. Our home price is half of what we bought it for. Makes me sick to my stomach just thinking about it.
See, Barb, we can't go back to Idaho or Utah- that's the point. Our house is worth a third of what we bought it for so we're stuck in it. Good thing we like it.
Hmmmm...that street looks WAY too familiar!! Can I just say that out of 9 houses on our small street, 3 are empty, 3 are planning on leaving, and two are here for now and our neighbors just moved out yesterday!? What was wrong with our builder?
Try to tap in to Uncle Obama's $ and get your loan reduced by $150,000.
How sad.
It is sad! Just think we had 3 houses that were worth 1/3 of what we paid for them. My hubby used to make good money selling real estate and now I have to work! BOO!! Go figure! Good thing we love our house, ward and our friends...not to mention that Will is now a short sale expert and I'm lucky enough to work about a mile away from my house. :o) It will come back but not for about 7-9 years by then Conner & Kenna could be dating! ;O) We love you guys!
Could this sight and entry be sadder? What do you do... Thanks for providing me with my entry to my journal! :-) I don't think I've had anything written in there about the "current economic climate" and these "hard economic times". I can't tell you how old those phrases are becoming. I'd much rather hear, "You know, when I was your age..." :-)
