With Butterfly girl snug among the four Mix girls, and the other three running happywild at the Parhams, Blake and I were able to have a weekend away in Vegas. We sure are thankful to our friends. Hats off to Robyn who donated Friday morning and Sunday afternoon to our cause, and kudos to Jenn and David for enduring Butterfly's night terrors (a phase eerily similar to Jason's when he was that age- but minus Jeff's guffaws in the background). An especial BRAVA for Ceely for chasing two toddlers, two 4-year-olds and two 9-year-olds all weekend. Apparently the worst thing the little girls did (this time) was empty a bag of unused diapers into a full bath tub. Which although maddening is kind of funny and clever. Which one thought of that? Chamberlyn blamed "Honny" who was unable to defend or incriminate herself.
Blake and I went to Ka on Friday night, a cirque de soleil production which promised stunning visual effects and gravity-defying acrobatics and definitely delivered. On Saturday we saw Phantom of the Opera. Both theaters, at the MGM Grand and Venetian respectively were amazing. The live orchestra and opera singers gave us continual goosebumps and the Phantom kept surprising us by hanging from the chandelier and disappearing behind fireballs.
We had a blast with Blake's brother Steve and his wife Keri even though we stayed off the strip in a non-smoking, but smoky hotel room with the glamorous name of Arizona Charlie's. Our intent was to save money hotel-wise to spend instead at the strip but next time we'll nix such noble ideas and live it up. And there will be a next time! This trip fueled the appetite for more Vegas shows. But asking our friends for babysitting again may be a problem. At least until those naughty toddlers are potty trained so there are no diapers to submerge.
Stay tuned for photos. Don't get excited, Blake and I are idiots when it comes to cameras.

I wish I could have gone! Claire has nigh terrors? Poor girl.
Yay, I'm so glad you did it! And I was glad to help out with your kids. They are such sweeties.
Wow, I'm so proud of you and Blake for making memories! These can be the highlights of your lives and we all need highlights among the drudgery. Thank goodness for good friends that filled the grandma role for me. Dang I would have loved to watch them, if only I lived closer. . . Dad is feeling better and says "hey" in a little stonger voice, but still with a tiny cough at the end. Love ya
Sounds like fun. Let's not tell Derrick! Did you see any old friends while in Vegas? kelli
Sounds like you had a great time! It's always nice to get away.
