My soul and my brain are at odds over this one.
The Twilight series was so silly. You like to mock it.
I know, says my brain, but my book club is reading THE HOST and I should give it a chance.

The first few chapters were confusing, but I am intrigued. Should I keep reading?
What happens to Wanderer? Where is Jared? What about little Jamie?
NO! Put it down! What will Anna say, and the Others, the ones who know you're not a Stephenie Meyer fan? How can you save face?

But don't you remember, how many times did you count the words "statue of Adonis" and "stone-cold chest"? Like twenty? And how long it took for the plot to gain momentum, only to resolve itself in one short chapter (half of which the narrator was unconscious for?)
Yes. Agreed, those words were said too many times. But give THE HOST a chance. I've heard it's completely different than that series. Maybe you will like it.
Right, well, it can't be any more cheesy than Twilight. Honestly: a vampire that holds a sleeping teenager in her bed all night long staring at her? It's kind of sick and creepy.
Fine, then, get something else to read. But both your book clubs are reviewing it. Do it for them.INTRIGUED

I did read it, and gave it just 'average' reviews. BUT, I did have to finish it once I had read a few chapters.

Stop thinking so much and read the dang book Jenna! I'm reading it outloud to David on our drive. We have laughed a few times already how Jared is "hot" while Edward was "cold."

Katie Gamble here and I can't believe you are even condsidering giving Stephenie Meyer another chance. I wouldn't even read THE HOST and I enjoyed Twilight. You know I have to give you a hard time for all the trash you were talking about Twilight. I mean, come on - aliens taking over bodies? That could never happen. Now vampires on the other hand, that could really happen! :)
Keep reading, it gets better!! Plus, its great to know that they are all living just around the bend over by Picacho Peak! LOL.
It sounds like we are in the same part of The Host. We will have to chat about it when we both finish it.
