Smalls gets a birthday party for once!

Poor boy, with his July 24 birthday. Either he's out of town or his friends are. Thanks to our friend, Ceely, who has a son in the same boat (Gabe, who is Padawan's best Jedi friend) a little party was organized. We spent a fortune on the event ($.50 a person to get into the pool, and then Domino's catered). Smalls had been asking for three consecutive years to get a Nintendo DS and was always denied. After his desparate attempts to earn enough money to buy his own (one quarter per ten minutes scrubbing the grout in the kitchen tile) Blake and I decided to make up the difference. His $12 really off-set the cost. Padawan immediately burst into tears when his brother opened this gift. And was even more beside himself when Gabe opened one too! It was a fun way to say good-bye to our friends before the great summer evacuation. We leave tomorrow. Cousins, here we come. Yay!

We have the same problem. Matthew's birthday is the 4th of July and it is so hard to plan a party. It's summer, everyone is out of town for the holiday, etc. Poor kid has only had a couple birthday parties and those were mostly with cousins. Hope your having fun in the cool weather!

Why did you delete my comment? Not good enough for you? Ha!

Rafe dejected in the background is my favorite with a close second going to Holland's expression.

P.S. I was wrong when I told you Grant doesn't say the entire sentence. Grant did say "I had nice dreams". I'm not sure if he says "had" or "has" or "have" though. Right now he's saying "I have pretzel, please". So, he doesn't quite have the present/past tense thing yet.
