Which looks more like "Hate?"

This picture:
Or this Statement:

SALT LAKE CITY 7 November 2008 The Church issued the following statement today:
It is disturbing that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is being singled out for speaking up as part of its democratic right in a free election.

Members of the Church in California and millions of others from every faith, ethnicity and political affiliation who voted for Proposition 8 exercised the most sacrosanct and individual rights in the United States — that of free expression and voting.

While those who disagree with our position on Proposition 8 have the right to make their feelings known, it is wrong to target the Church and its sacred places of worship for being part of the democratic process.

Once again, we call on those involved in the debate over same-sex marriage to act in a spirit of mutual respect and civility towards each other. No one on either side of the question should be vilified, harassed or subject to erroneous information.

As an AZ citizen I was privileged to be a part of the campaign for Prop 102 which, like Prop 8 in CA defines marriage as between a man and a woman. I put a sign in my yard and my kids hung door-hangers in the neighborhood. I have to admit I did this timidly and in the cover of darkness even though I didn't personally get any flack for it anywhere. I did have friends get their signs torn up or stolen but so what? They all just got replaced. I wish I had more courage to stand up for my convictions. As a member of the LDS church I believe there is strength in traditional families. I believe a child raised by a committed, loving father and mother will live the most joyful life possible. I have nothing personally against those who choose other lifestyles. We live in a country that freely allows that right. I am saddened to see that country harrassing religion on sacred property. But I am grateful for Church leaders that responded to the backlash at the L.A. temple with peaceful dignity-- and can only hope the world will see the contrast as well.

It's hard not to take it personally. I liked this article and statement from a Catholic bishop in CA.

This whole thing is so sad. Seemingly strong members are leaving the church over this issue... the wheat is definately being seperated from the chaff.

It is sad! I love how the Church responds to it and hope that the members can as well. We don't hate we just want to define marriage. You did your part Jenna and although I would like to think the wind blew my sign away in the back of my mind I have worried that I might have made our home a target of hate...so far so good thanks to Heavenly Father and no I don't have any regrets.

That guy just looks like he's yawning.

I kid. I kid.

Thanks for posting the statement. I think you were very brave to stand up for what you believe.

I can't believe the amount of anger generated by the people for same-sex marriage. Now is the time to stand up for what we believe in! You are a great example of that.
