Burglars: Don't Cut the Wall- Try the Window

A string of "hole-in-the-wall" burglaries in and around our subdivision spurred community members to start up a neighborhood watch group. The crime we're combatting is actually pretty clever: deviants cut a hole in the exterior wall and climb right in, bypassing security alarms which usually are only triggered by doors and windows, and then take off with an armful of Wii and Xbox systems. Blake has been involved in the block watch from the start volunteering as a neighborhood captain.

This morning after a nice morning stroll with the kids I came home and realized I didn't have my housekey with me. After trying all the doors and finding them all locked I called Blake at work to tell him of my unfortunate event. He left right away to come home and rescue us, a trip that would take over an hour round-trip.

A few minutes later I had the brilliant idea (inspired after Rafe's prayer) to call our friend Tony to come over and see if he had any tricks up his sleeve. He pulled up in his truck and in less than 2 minutes had "broken" into our house via a side window that wasn't locked and easily opened right up.

We rarely use those windows. They have probably been unlocked for months. Tony joked about how easy it was to break into the Block Watch Captain's house. Apparently we have lots to learn about crime prevention.

So a little heads-up to the bad guys: Before you get out all your loud tools, try the windows first.

oh yeah, we have motion detectors, so 'hole in the wall' boogers wouldn't get too far, plus we have no wii or xbox...just an awesome tennis court with a roof that opens for nice weather, swimming pool (indoor and outdoor, might i add with a slide that goes throughout the house) and a mini airport.

Growing up in Idaho, you would just try the front door. It is probably unlocked.

We even left the keys in the ignition of all of our vehicles, including the Porsche...and the airplanes.

Welcome to Idaho all burglers of Maricopa.

Sounds like my weekend! My friend broke into my house through a window too when I locked myself out!

Figured Blake would volunteer to be Neighborhood Watch Captain...he does have experience. He organized and formed a Neighborhood watch program in our home town neighborhood for his Eagle Scout project!

You can leave Idaho, but Idaho will never leave you!
