How could I possibly know, that night I couldn't sleep and concocted this whole harebrained idea to go to Disneyland at Christmastime, that a billion other people were also thinking the same thing?
Yes, but now I know the answer to the equation:
Disney + Christmas

I mean, I knew it was going to be bad. I knew the week between Christmas and New Years was busy there. But, Blake had the week off. So we braced ourselves for what I thought I knew a crowd was. Oooh man, there was no way this Idaho farm girl could have been prepared for the swarms. Hordes, I think they call them. So many people. It was so busy December 27, our first day, that by 2:30 they stopped admitting people. By then we were just a blip on the Disney radar, tiny specks of humanity ever inching forward, slowly, slowly with the throngs in this ant hill called Disneyland.
I know, it sounds awful. But guess what? It wasn't! It was awesome!
Not so much awesome at the teacups. My stomach and head hurts just thinking about it.

During the two days we were there, we clocked 25 hours at California Adventure and Disneyland. We were in lines to ride rides, in lines for fast passes, in line for potty, in line to wash hands after using potty. We rode 25 rides, despite the crowds, and ate hamburgers for $75. Our whole family went on every ride, even the big ones. Poor Dutch Baby didn't have the Disney Princess vacation other 5-year-olds acquire. It was thrills only. And she loved it (mostly). I think she only cried during Indiana Jones. She might have cried during Tower of Terror if she hadn't have been too terrified to do so. I looked at her once during the ride, and she looked glassy like she had retreated inside herself and was on screen-saver.
Ask my kids, they will say Splash Mountain was the best ride in the park.
Personally, I say California Screaming was the best. Especially at night.
I want to go back! But maybe not next Christmas.
Who wants to come with us?

I want to go! Tony, not so much. (:
Love the scarf! :)
Every time we go, we fight over who has to go with the kids on the teacups, and every time...I end up losing the battle. I want to be the cool mom. And I know it's a title I have to earn. And besides, if Derrick does it, then he will be in the hotel room sick for the rest of the day. Which means I have to be a disneyland single mom. And that's no fun at all! And since I don't actually get sick, and I just have a severe headache and vertigo for the rest of the day. It's only fair that I be the one, right???
Anyways, looks like fun times!!!
We Do !!!!! We like LINES :)
We would totally go w/ you. having interned at WDW in FL the best time to go is around Halloween or in between halloween and Thanksgiving. nice weather and no lines. I would think CA might be the same but not positive. would be fun to go together though! glad y'all had fun!
So....there's a stroller? Is that Rafe in that stroller? Did you take a stroller just to have something to put your stuff in? Sorry about the lines but glad you had a great time! As kids we would only go to Disneyland when it rained. Less crowds. :)
