highlight this week was, ironically, highlights

I am so not a selfie kind of person. I look at them and all I can think of is that I need my eyebrows done. There are people all around me that take selfies daily and send them out for the world with selfie-confidence. I am too selfie-deprecating.

Yet I post this because this is my new hairdo. I tried to go long. For the first time, it was a concerted effort that failed. I couldn't stand it. It was so thin I could see through it. That's not right. So I had it colored and highlighted and took a selfie, with my favorite photo-bomber at my side.

Speaking of my favorite photo-bomber:

Holland's best friend just turned eight and wanted Holl to come with her to get their ears pierced at the same time. We shoo-ed their annoying brothers out of the store so they wouldn't steal their moment. But then when we saw the pictures we took, there they are, stealing it.

Holl did great getting them pierced. But suddenly, three minutes afterward, she started panicking and crying and saying that she couldn't hear. I think she was in shock a little bit and was having anxiety. I assured her that getting your ears pierced doesn't puncture your ear drum. Poor baby. I have this thing about under-explaining things to my kids so they don't stress about it (like not telling them when they are getting shots after school or heading to the dentist). This sometimes back-fires. Like, for example, this time.

But she pulled through, with hearing intact. Here is an after shot:
