Groundhog Day

Today was the next big step in my quest to install a spinkler system and grass by May 10th. It was trenching the trenches with a trencher - or the GROUNDHOG. Vroom vroom. It's a great invention that cost $70 for 4 hours, but saved me much blood, sweat, and tears. It was still hard work - I have the blisters on my hands to prove it, but was able to finish all the trenching within a couple of hours.
First, I had to figure out how to operate the thing, but it wasn't too hard. Before long I was off and running.

This is my 4-year old weilding a pick axe.

Pretty soon I had garnered quite the audience. "Mom! Dad's doing manual labor again!"

Before long, our white trash backyard had trenches and mounds of dirt. It's still probably going to look a bit worse before it gets put back together.

Next phase: Finishing a bit of trenching where the GROUNDHOG couldn't reach and clean the trenches. Need to install the new valve boxes and start running some pipe.

Can't say you've never spent a day in the trenches! Won't it be great to have a yard? Then you can get Conner to mow it! (boys are great that way!) kelli

yeah for you guys! all you gotta do is get those sprinklers in and turn em on....then you can have some fun mud wrestling in your white trash backyard....or be boring and do grass.

Either you were up really early, or you leave your kids in their pajamas....

(I'm impressed Blaker!)

Uh, did you forget to trench your flower beds? I just see grass. Nice safety shoes on Rafe with the pick axe. I like the PJs too.

Good job Blaker. Gloves would've helped you out I think. Did your builder put in the stone wall? That's pretty cool.
