Extra Blessings

A praying mantis began solemn meditation on our sliding doors. For a day-and-a-half, yoga-like, he/she prayed without ceasing. I can't help but wonder what he prayed for. General things, maybe? like the oil shortage and relief from terrorism? The housing market?
Or are mantis prayers more specific? I would like to think he prayed that the poor family in this household would one day have grass in their backyard. And that the father of this family would replace the battery in the purple van so it won't be an eyesore in the driveway anymore. Maybe he asked for a ceasefire between the 4-year-old and 2-year-old residents of this house. Which in turn would mean more happiness for the mother and love and beauty all around. I'm sure mantis prayers take special priority in heaven. Thank you, Mr. Mantis, for the benediction.

According to a Google search, "The mantis comes to us when we need peace, quiet and calm in our lives."

In other words - don't talk politics with Anna.

Jenna you crack me up! Our praying mantis ate the two small males that we found and put in with her...they lasted all of 2 days...I think she was praying for solitude. :O)

Assume that the mantis prayed that you will one day have a Wii Fit and then go buy one.

Are you sure it was alive? Maybe it was just hanging there in repose, waiting for a strong breeze to blow it to the dirt. Maybe it was just looking for something green, and unable to find it, decided to stay to see if something showed up.

We had a moth hang out on our window. I didn't think to take a picture and blog about it.

We had a praying mantis for a classroom pet for a while, the students fed it grasshoppers and it ripped them to shreds.
